About Us
I am passionate about cooking tasty food and sharing with others.
Food has always meant gathering with family and sharing with loved ones.
My journey began in New Delhi, India, where I learnt from my parents and close family their individual cooking styles and how they perfected their special dishes. How black pepper should never be cooked but crushed fresh over hot food to really experience its aroma and flavor.
Or that slow simmering, “sweet heat” is the reason food develops deep flavors. I learnt how to make ghee, roast, and grind spices, and make chutneys.
Nomadic Roots is an acknowledgement of my family’s journey from pre-independence India, Punjab region, from where they were displaced in 1947, and started a new life in New Delhi.
The next generation found itself migrating to the U.S., retaining a love for our food, our family recipes, as well as the connections and memories they represent.
